Although neglected and underexposed well-nigh of his life, Bob Dorough is an adventurous, risk-taking master of vocalese (the process of writing and vocalizing lyrics to instrumental jazz solos) and scat singing tattle world Health Organization has straight or indirectly influenced Mark Murphy, Michael Franks, Mose Allison, and Kurt Elling. The Arkansas native started out on piano in the 1940s, then took up singing in the early '50s (when he played for packer Sugar Ray Robinson, an entertainer at the clip). From 1954-1955, Dorough lived in Paris, where he recorded with isaac Bashevis Singer Blossom Dearie. The improviser launched his have recording career when he sign-language with Bethlehem in 1955 and recorded the splendid Dickens May Care, which introduced the defiant statute title song and lyrics to Charlie Parker's "Con Suite." But deplorably, he recorded only periodically afterward that. In 1962, Dorough co-wrote "Comin' Home Baby" (a hit for Mel Tormé) with Ben Tucker, and in 1966, he recorded his sec album, Just About Everything, for Focus. In the early '70s, he began penning and directive the serial publication of educational children's TV programs, School Rock. Though instructional material became his bread and butter, Dorough recorded obscure jazz dates for 52 Rue East, Orange Blue, Pinnacle, Boomdido, Laissez-Faire, and other midget labels in the seventies and 1980s. In 1997, a 73-year-old Dorough received some long-overdue aid from a major tag when the Capitol-distributed Blue Note released Right on My Way Home. Too Much Coffee Man followed in the bound of 2000. His Sunday brunch residence at New York's Iridium baseball club culminated in 2004's live offering William Ashley Sunday at Iridium and, at a sprightly 82 years of age, Dorough traveled to England for a series of live dates. The duty tour culminated in a recording academic session that spawned the wizard Small Day Tomorrow album in 2006.

Spears still not allowed to visit sons
Pop singer Britney Spears has failed to regain access to her two young sons following a closed-door court hearing.
Spears, who was recently admitted to hospital for psychiatric evaluation, was barred from visiting her sons last January after she refused to hand the children back to their father Kevin Federline, who currently has primary custody of the boys.
Los Angeles Superior Court spokesman Alan Parachini told reporters after yesterday's hearing that there had been no change in the orders handed out by the family judge who last month stripped Spears of her visitation rights.
The court denied a motion by Spears' lawyer to issue a gag order to keep attorneys from talking to the media.

My Chemical Romance preview DVD online
My Chemical Romance are gearing up for the release of their forthcoming CD/DVD 'The Black Parade Is Dead' by previewing five minutes of footage online.
The footage, which includes a live performance of 'Welcome To The Black Parade' is taken from the two-hour long DVD and was filmed at a string of performances including their show at Palacio de los Deportes sports arena in Mexico City in October 2007) and their intimate performance at Maxwell's in Hoboken, NJ the same month.
The footage can been seen on Buzznet, and in addition, fans can enter a competition to win a limited edition prize pack, which includes hand painted 'Day of the Dead' masks, three downloadable live tracks and a death certificate for each member of the band.
'The Black Parade Is Dead' is scheduled to be released July 1.

Sex & The City's Kristin Davis Reveals Alcohol Battle
Sex And The City star Kristin Davis has revealed how she turned to alcohol in her early 20s in a bid to boost her confidence.
The actress – who refers to herself as an alcoholic – admits that she relied on drink to overcome her shyness and make herself appear more outgoing.
She tells the new issue of Shape magazine, "Alcohol freed me. I was really shy and I didn't know how to come out of my shell.
“I drank for the same reason I loved acting. I wanted to feel things and express myself and be free. And I'm not naturally that way."
Kristin adds that her problem with alcohol is in the past and she hasn’t touched a drop in years.
She says, "I don't drink and I've never smoked. They are bad for your skin and health."
In fact, Kristin now takes a much healthier approach to looking and feeling good.
"I went through phases when I said I can’t have this or I can’t have that,’ she recalls, "but now I don’t deprive myself."
"I never let myself get too hungry. I make sure I eat every three hours or so, mostly protein, good carbs, veggies and salads."

Hollywood actress KATE HUDSON credits her mother GOLDIE HAWN with giving her a healthy attitude towards sex and relationships - insisting her parents' honesty helped her while growing up.
Hudson was raised by Hawn and her longterm partner Kurt Russell, and used to have candid chats with them about sex.
And the Almost Famous actress is convinced the fact she was able to talk openly to the pair about intimate issues gave her a more balanced outlook on all of her adult romances.
She says, "She (Hawn) never treated me like a child and I really respected her for that.
"They always said, 'Sex is the best thing in the world. When you start having it you're going to love it. But it's that much better when you love someone, so just remember that.'

Two songs from the Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova-starring Irish film 'Once' are being considered for inclusion on the shortlist for Best Original Song at the 80th Academy Awards.
The songs on the longlist from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences are 'Falling Slowly' and 'If You Want Me'.
Last week 'Falling Slowly' was nominated in the Best Compilation Soundtrack Album and Best Song Written for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media categories for the Grammy Awards.
The Oscars longlist also has another Irish link: Jonathan Rhys Meyers' rendition of the song 'This Time' from his new film 'August Rush' is also among the 59 tracks being considered.
The Oscar nominees will be announced on Tuesday, 22 January 2008.
